It’s finally time to enjoy a weekend round of golf, watch your favorite baseball team, or relax at a cookout with seasonal fresh veggies. Many people enjoy these popular summertime activities, but few consider the one thing they likely have in common – they are all maintained with a water irrigation system.
Irrigation – the act of pumping controlled amounts of water to fields, landscapes, and crops – is of great benefit to dry soil during periods of less than adequate rainfall. The water used in irrigation systems may be sourced from wells, lakes, ponds, or rainwater collected from harvesting systems. In most cases, irrigation and sprinkler systems also provide the benefit of regulating water pressure and maintaining flow (even when multiple water sources are in use) and thereby helps to conserve water.
Common Irrigation & Water Delivery Applications
The heart of any water delivery system is the pump station. In larger irrigation systems, the pump may be controlled by a variable frequency drive (VFD). Typically, VFDs are housed within an electrical panel or enclosure. Often located outdoors, enclosures (and the VFDs within) can be exposed to extreme temperatures and weather conditions. Since they are sensitive to extreme heat, VFDs may require active enclosure cooling to perform at their best.
Kooltronic thermal management solutions can be installed directly onto electrical enclosures, providing the cooling necessary for VFDs and pumps to operate efficiently. Products best suited for irrigation applications include enclosure air conditioners, heat exchangers, and cooling fans.
