Enclosure Cooling Solutions for the Food & Beverage Industry
The complex automation and robotic systems used within the food and beverage industry require enclosure cooling to keep controls within their allowable temperatures and maintain their reliability. Thermal management devices must provide the cooling necessary to protect the sensitive electronic components in production, processing, and packaging equipment from excess heat and airborne contaminants while also meeting strict sanitation standards set forth by the FDA and other governing agencies. Typically, machinery used in the food and beverage industry requires routine high-pressure wash-downs with water or detergents, so integrated cooling devices must be rated accordingly to NEMA 4 or NEMA 4X. The cooling considerations below identify some of the unique application requirements within the food and beverage processing industry - helping you to avoid unnecessary costs associated with unscheduled downtime and lost productivity.

Case Studies
Forced-Air Ventilation of Electrical Enclosures in a Food Processing Facility
Written by: Bruce Kreeley, Kooltronic, Inc.
This case study describes a scenario where Kooltronic engineers were tasked with proposing a solution to cool several NEMA 4X enclosures in a challenging environment — a meat packing plant. After analyzing the project requirements and considering several key environmental factors, Kooltronic delivered a solution that exceeded the customer's expectations by offering lower cost, greater reliability, and more energy efficiency.
