Kooltronic President Barry Freedman stands with Chief Executive Officer Anne Freedman, Chairman of the Board Jerry Freedman, and Board Member Deborah Freedman.
Kooltronic, Inc., the leading manufacturer of air conditioners, heat exchangers, fans and blowers for electronic enclosures, is celebrating 50 years of successfully meeting and exceeding customer requirements in increasingly diverse and technologically challenging industries.
Roger Lyman established the Company in 1956, originally named Kooltronic Fan Company, to manufacture cooling equipment for enclosures in the emerging electronics, computer and defense industries. During the 1960s, the company pioneered the development of specialized blowers and fans for demanding industrial applications. Kooltronic manufactured the first closed-loop air conditioner for sealed enclosures in 1967. During this time, in addition to the corporate headquarters in New Jersey, the company established a full-service sales, engineering, and manufacturing facility in Ventura, California.
Jerry and Anne Freedman purchased the company from Roger Lyman in June of 1970. In 1975 they moved the corporate headquarters and manufacturing plant from Quakerbridge Road near Princeton, N.J. to Hopewell, NJ. Kooltronic moved to its current 170,000 square foot facility on 100 acres in Pennington, NJ in 1999. Since 2002, the Ventura facility has served as a West Coast sales office.
“As the company kept growing in size and became more and more successful, the first two locations couldn’t accommodate our requirements,” said owner Anne Freedman. “We now have plenty of space to house all of our office, research and development and manufacturing needs, including our UL-certified testing laboratory and automated powder paint system.”
Today, Kooltronic remains a privately owned business, with Barry Freedman serving as President. The company continues to specialize in the innovative design and production of both forced ventilation and closed-loop thermal control equipment for enclosures used in electronic, medical, industrial, telecommunication and other applications. Looking back on the past 36 years of owning the company, Jerry Freedman smiles at how far Kooltronic has come in the business world. “This was a little company that we built into an efficient, state-of-the-art, global leader in enclosure thermal control technology!”
